- The Utility will be contained in a CD and your PC will have to boot from CD-ROM in order to access your data in your hard drive. Make sure you go to your PC BIOS booting program and select the specific booting order with "CD-ROM" as first option, you will then save and exit, as your PC restarts, the utility will be accessed from the CD-ROM as your first booting device and you will notice the Windows XP logo as the process continues.
- NOTE: The XP logo will be present no matter what operating system you have, you will eventually be given the option to choose the folder where your OS resides and you will gain full access to your files.
- You will be presented with an option screen on which you will choose the folder where the Operating System resides, the type of keyboard (language) and the Time Zone, after you made your selection and you clicked on the "OK" button you will enter the ERD Desktop, the rest is up to the technician.
- Helps you fix and recover "dead" (non-booting) systems, as long as it's not hardware related. If the problem is Operating System (software related) you will then be able to access your PC as if it were booting the regular way.
- You will be presented with a "designer" desktop on which you will be able to navigate through your files and folders as if you were under normal circumstances.
- You can browse your hard drive contents and even "run programs", that's right, you will be able to actually run many programs and check the data content to verify settings, saved text and work done on many applications like Word, Excel, etc.
